Witcher 3 Announcement Image

We've hinted at this for a few months now, and we're finally ready to announce 2017's Winter WRPG... The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt.

You've probably noticed that November's games are all pretty slight. Transistor, Thimbleweed Park, and Actraiser are shorties and that's intentional. We wanted to create room to play CD Projekt Red's massive 100 hour epic. We also borrowed a week from November.

That means we're dedicating four whole episodes to covering The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt in December.

We considered throwing the expansions in as well, but that would be too much game. But don't worry, we will be covering both Hearts of Stone and Blood and Wine sometime in 2018.

We hope you're as excited about this as we are. The Witcher 3 is a very special, very dense game, and I personally can't wait to weigh in on it. If you have any thoughts on the Witcher 3 base game, please submit them to our contact form by December 15.

We will be sharing booth #324 with the Retronauts. Come by, grab some buttons and stickers, say hi, and play some WarioWare!

Live Show

We will be doing a live episode of Watch Out for Fireballs! about the WarioWare series of games from 8:30 PM to 9:15 PM on Saturday night in Auditorium B. We'd love to see you in the audience.

A combined Duckfeed/Retronauts meetup is also happening on Saturday night, at the QuarterWorld Bar and Arcade from 8:00 to midnight. Gary and I won't be there until about 10. QuarterWorld is located at 4811 SE Hawthorne Blvd. in Portland, and the best way to get there is via a ride sharing service. They also have a small cover fee at the door.

November Episode Announcement https://www.watchoutforfireballs.com/articles/november-episode-announcement-2017 Mon, 25 Sep 2017 15:00:00 -0400 kole@duckfeed.tv bb48579e-8daf-4508-a0da-9e7627157a60 November ushers in our first grab-bag month. No theme, no gods, no kings (not Bioshock).

Announcement Banner

We're in the thick of getting ready for October's Resident Evil Month (which will bring RE3: Nemesis, RE: Code Veronica, and RE7: biohazard), but we also have an exciting announcement about what November will bring for Watch Out for Fireballs!

This will be our first WOFF 2.0 month without a theme, so it's a grab bag of titles from different genres and eras.

First, we will be covering Transistor, the sophomore effort from SuperGiant games (of Bastion fame). It's a beautiful game with a unique combat system that combines real time action with turn-based planning. This episode is executive produced by our Patreon backer Jon C. Bird.

Second, we're playing Thimbleweed Park, the spiritual successor to Maniac Mansion, lovingly created by Ron Gilbert and Gary Winnick. It's a throwback to one of our favorite games, and we're really excited to dig into it.

Finally, our 175th episode will be about the SNES classic Actraiser. It's Quintet's debut game, and it combines Castlevania platforming with a god-game framework. This game won our "Console Wars" poll, and it's a fitting choice for such a big round number like 175.

We hope you're looking forward to these episodes. If you have any thoughts on any of these three games, please submit them to our contact form by November 15.

October Episode Announcement https://www.watchoutforfireballs.com/articles/october-episode-announcement-2017 Mon, 28 Aug 2017 15:00:00 -0400 kole@duckfeed.tv 71b994a7-2f6f-477c-b5b0-512321b87d5b Come October, it's time to join the family. Announcement Image

September brings you Bat Month, with the SunSoft NES Batman game and Batman: Arkham Asylum. But the cooler weather brings a particular kind of joy: Survival Horror on WOFF! And for the first Survival Horror games on WOFF 2.0, we decided to make it a club banger.

We're cleaning up Resident Evil. Well, mostly, anyway.

More accurately, we're hitting some of the weirdo titles in the mainline Resident Evil series that we've ignored so far. These episodes will join our coverage of the REmake, Resident Evil 2, and Resident Evil 4... making Resident Evil the series we've covered the most on the network.

First, we're heading back to Raccoon City to cover Resident Evil 3: Nemesis and its unique approach to pursuit-as-gameplay. After that, we're hitting Resident Evil - Code: Veronica to watch the Redfield family take down the heirs of Umbrella's founders. Finally, we're looking at our most-requested game this year: Resident Evil 7.

We're really looking forward to it, and we hope you are too. If you have any thoughts about these games, please submit them by October 15.
